The London Borough of Lambeth have confirmed that the Redress scheme closes on Saturday, 1 January 2022 at 5pm. This is just six weeks away.
Unless there are very exceptional circumstances, any application made after this date will not be considered.
The Lambeth Redress Scheme pays compensation to people who were abused or lived in fear of being abused while in Lambeth’s care as children. The scheme is for those who lived in or visited a Lambeth children’s home (including those at Shirley Oaks) or attended Shirley Oaks Primary School.
By July 2021:
- 1,887 people have made applications
- more than £71.5 million has been paid out of the scheme
