A kids’ entertainer and martial arts instructor has been jailed for committing a string of child sex offences over a seven-year period. Steven Oxborrow, of Wilverley Road, Wootton, was found guilty at Southampton Crown Court on April 5 of five counts of sexual activity with a child under 13, three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of possession of indecent image of a child and one count of rape of a child under 13.
The offences happened in the Wootton and New Milton areas over a seven-year period. Oxborrow appeared at the same court yesterday (May 26) and was sentenced to a total of 13-and-a-half years in prison.
The court heard how the 33-year-old, who was a local children’s martial arts instructor and entertainer, had sexually abused three youngsters on multiple occasions. One of the victims came forward when they were 12-years-old after a concerned parent found messages of an inappropriate nature between the pair on a family computer.
In addition to his jail terms, Oxborrow was ordered to serve an additional year on licence. He was made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, with all three victims being granted restraining orders against Oxborrow for life, ensuring that he cannot contact them.
Oxborrow will also be required to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
