Former teacher from Wallington jailed for sex offences against boy

A former teacher from Wallington as been found guilty of sexually abusing a boy.

Brian Johncock denied the four counts, all of which related to the same victim, but was found guilty by a jury.

The 79-year-old, of Cowper Gardens in Wallington, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, September 13 when he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the historic crimes, which are as follows:

  • One count of indecent assault on a boy under 14
  • One count of indecent assault on a boy under 14 [on at least four occasions other than count 1]
  • One count of gross indecency with a boy under 16
  • One count of gross indecency with a boy under 16 [other than the previous count

Johncock was convicted on Thursday, August 15 following a trial and has been put on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. He also received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
