Former primary school teacher jailed for child sexual abuse
October 4, 2022

A former primary school teacher has been jailed for the sexual abuse of two young girls.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said that Charles Ellis, 63, of Chester, abused the girls on separate occasions.

He abused a pupil in 2016. He also abused an eight-year-old girl who lived near him in Cheshire between 2009 and 2011.

Both victims have said Ellis’ actions have negatively impacted on their lives.

Ellis had been previously dismissed from his teaching role at the school in 2018 following an investigation. He also had several other convictions for child sexual abuse.

He eventually pleaded guilty to these further offences, and on 15 September 2022 at Liverpool Crown Court he was jailed for 34 months.

Senior Crown Prosecutor Sarah Egan, a specialist prosecutor with CPS Mersey-Cheshire’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) unit, said:

Charles Ellis committed a gross breach of trust against both these victims, and had no thought in relation to the impact his actions would have on them. They have both suffered long term emotional effects from what he did to them.

The Crown Prosecution Service would like to thank the victims in both of these cases for their help in bringing this man to justice, yet again.”
