Criminal injuries compensation authority (cica)
Applications for Criminal Injuries CompensationThe Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) is an agency of the UK Government. The Authority, established in 1996 administers a compensation scheme for injuries caused to victims of violent crime in England, Scotland and Wales
If you have been the victim of a violent crime you may be able to make a claim for compensation via the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). Eligibility is subject to certain criteria and we can advise you on your entitlement to claim at no cost to you.
Making a CICA Claim
There are two options available for those who were subject to abuse for consideration of an application.
- You are able to have your claim valued and assessed based on police evidence only. This is suitable for those who do not feel that they have suffered from psychiatric harm, or do not wish to proceed with requiring consultations or assessments.
- If you feel that you have suffered from psychiatric or psychological harm you are able to have your claim assess with the benefit of medical evidence. this is a longer process, however, you are likely to recover a greater award.
Same-roof rule 1979
Earlier this year, the same roof rule was then removed form the CICA Scheme on 13th June 2019 and anyone previously denied compensation or who felt that they were not eligible are able to now renew or make a fresh application.
The deadline for submission of applications relating to the Same Roof Rule is the 13 June 2021. We are able to either review a previously denied application or make a new application.
Funding
We are able to assist you in your CICA application on a fixed fee basis. this fee is calculated on 25% of your award inclusive of VAT only if your claim is successful. If your claim is unsuccessful, you do not pay us.
